Congressman Cleaver Applauds Announcement of Major Disaster Declaration for Missouri Flooding
(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) released the following statement today after President Trump approved a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Missouri following severe flooding throughout the state.
“This disaster funding is critical to rebuilding the communities that were devasted by the unusual flooding this spring,” said Congressman Cleaver. “I’m pleased that the administration made the common sense decision to approve this Disaster Declaration, and to the local, state, and federal leaders who worked to ensure these communities received the assistance they so desperately need. Now the real work of rebuilding homes, roads, and bridges begins.”
The Disaster Declaration comes following a letter from the entire Missouri delegation requesting the administration grant the declaration request. The declaration will trigger the release of Federal funds to help communities recover from the flooding. Counties that are eligible for Public Assistance (PA) include: Ray, Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Carroll, Chariton, Holt, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Platte, and Ste. Genevieve Counties.
