Cleaver Applauds Treasury IG's Inquiry Into Opportunity Zones Program
Following A Push From Lawmakers, Treasury Inspector General Announces Inquiry Into Potential Misconduct In Treasury's Implementation Of Opportunity Zones
(Washington, D.C.) – United States Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) released the following statement after the Treasury Department Inspector General announced an inquiry into the Treasury Department's Opportunity Zone program.
"I'm pleased that the Inspector General saw the validity of our request to investigate the Opportunity Zone program. It's critical that we get to the bottom of any potential wrongdoing so that the American people can be assured that the federal government is still working for them and not the select few at the top of the totem pole. I look forward to hearing from the IG in the coming months, and, in the meantime, we will continue to engage with the Treasury Secretary on how we can mend the OZ program to start working for the people and not only the powerful.
