Congressman Cleaver Announces Resolution Honoring Chiefs Super Bowl Victory with Reps. Davids, Graves, Alford

February 16, 2023

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Representatives Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO), Sam Graves (R-MO), Sharice Davids (D-KS), and Mark Alford (R-MO) announced a bipartisan resolution honoring the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. The resolution congratulates the entire Chiefs organization on their comeback win led by Head Coach Andy Reid, Super Bowl MVP and League MVP Patrick Mahomes, and the rest of the Kansas City football team. The lawmakers plan to introduce the resolution in the House of Representatives tomorrow during a pro forma session.

“The 2022-2023 Kansas City Chiefs were so great that their story can’t be contained to the NFL record books alone. It must also be told in the People’s books in the House of Representatives, and our resolution is going to ensure that generations to come will know about this historic team,” said Congressman Cleaver. “From the ownership to the players and personnel, the Kansas City Chiefs are a world-class organization and an envy to other sports cities. With a Hall of Fame coach, quarterback, tight end, defensive tackle, and on down the line, this could be considered one of the greatest football teams ever assembled—and I can’t wait to watch them run it back next year!”

“Congratulations to the Chiefs on a hard-fought and well-deserved victory, effectively putting all the naysayers in their place. Let’s go Chiefs!” said Congressman Graves.

“The pride that our community has in this team and this season is worth recognizing—and there’s no question that the two Super Bowl wins in four years deserves to be celebrated,” saidRep. Sharice Davids. “I can’t wait to run it back next year and continue to make history. Let’s go Kansas City!”

“I’m proud to recognize the hard work of our Kansas City Chiefs for a resounding victory in Super Bowl 57,” said Rep. Alford. “Chiefs Nation are world champions once again, congratulations!”

Additional cosponsors of the resolution include Representatives Jason Smith (R-MO), Ron Estes (R-KS), and Tracey Mann (R-KS).
