Congressman Cleaver Makes Friendly Super Bowl Wager with Rep. Evans
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) made a friendly wager with Philadelphia Representative Dwight Evans (D-PA) on the outcome of Super Bowl LVII. When the Kansas City Chiefs win, Rep. Evans will provide some famous Philly cheesesteaks. If a miracle were to occur and the Eagles come away victorious, Rep. Cleaver will provide some of Kansas City’s finest barbecue from Gates BBQ.
“I’m always happy to share some of Kansas City’s world-class barbecue with friends, but Congressman Evans is going to have to wait until 2024 at the earliest to get some of that magical cuisine, because there is just no way the Chiefs are going to lose this weekend,” said Congressman Cleaver. “While I admit it will be a difficult matchup, Kansas City has the better coach, the better quarterback, and the better Kelce—and because of that, we’re going to bring the Lombardi Trophy back home to Chiefs Kingdom where it belongs. When that happens, I look forward to another parade with the people of Kansas City and some delicious Philly cheesesteaks from one of Philadelphia’s finest Representatives!”
“I’m happy to collaborate with my friend from Kansas City on fighting Republicans’ proposed 30 percent national sales tax on your cheesesteaks or barbecue, and to co-sponsor his Good Deed Act to help fight the problem of deed fraud in both of our districts,” said Rep. Evans. “But I think he’s going to be delivering some Kansas City barbecue to my office after the Eagles win again!”
Emanuel Cleaver, II is the U.S. Representative for Missouri's Fifth Congressional District, which includes Kansas City, Independence, Lee's Summit, Raytown, Grandview, Sugar Creek, Greenwood, Blue Springs, North Kansas City, Gladstone, and Claycomo. He is a member of the exclusive House Financial Services Committee and Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance.
