Rep. Cleaver and Missouri State Senator Greg Razer Highlight Impact of Federal and State Funding for Mattie Rhodes Center

(Kansas City, MO) – Today, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (MO-05) and Missouri State Senator Greg Razer (District 07) hosted a check presentation and press conference to highlight the $1,259,000 in Community Project Funding the Congressman was able to secure for the Mattie Rhodes Cultural Center, as well as the $500,000 from the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery – Revenue Replacement Fund that Senator Razer secured for the organization.
The $1,259,000 in Community Project Funding for the Mattie Rhodes Cultural Center was one of ten projects Congressman Cleaver championed and successfully secured funding for in FY22. Now in its second century of community service in Kansas City’s Westside community, Mattie Rhodes Center serves more than 15,000 individuals annually. The $1,259,000 in Community Project Funding secured by Rep. Cleaver for the Mattie Rhodes Cultural Center will help answer the demand for a multi-purpose space that will make Mattie Rhodes Center more accessible, operate more sustainably, and enhance education, therapy, and arts programming for low-income families, while celebrating the cultural contributions of Kansas City’s growing Hispanic population. The $500,000 in State funding secured by Senator Razer for Mattie Rhodes is dedicated to individual and family well-being through social services, behavioral health counseling and the arts.
“Our work in Washington and in Jefferson City should have a positive impact on the folks we serve back at home – and these federally and state appropriated investments secured by Senator Razer and myself demonstrate our commitment to just that,” said Congressman Cleaver. “I am thrilled that these investments will go towards supporting the invaluable services Mattie Rhodes has readily available for the communities we serve and the individuals and families that utilize them.”
"I appreciate Congressman Cleaver and the Biden Administration for making real investments in Missouri to help area families, especially children," said Senator Razer. "I believe the people of Missouri are worth investing in, and I am glad the Kansas City region has a partner in Congress who not only shares our values but works every day to bring these investments home.”
