Rep. Cleaver Applauds Appointment of Meg McCollister as EPA’s Regional Administrator for Region 7

(Kansas City, MO) – Today, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) applauded the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) announcement that Meg McCollister will be appointed EPA Regional Administrator for Region 7, which is tasked with protecting the environment and human health in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and nine tribal nations. A graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law, Ms. McCollister previously served as a congressional intern in Representative Emanuel Cleaver's Washington, D.C and Kansas City offices in 2007 and 2008.

"It was my honor to nominate Meg McCollister for the Regional Administrator position serving Missouri and other Region 7 states and tribal nations," said Congressman Cleaver. "President Biden has put a high priority on protecting our environment for future generations, and Meg's experience, expertise, and passion for environmental justice will fit perfectly with the administration's agenda. I look forward to working with Meg once again as we continue ongoing efforts to combat climate change, expand conservation efforts, transition to sustainable energy, and protect our communities from hazardous pollutants. It's a tall task, but I'm certain Meg is up to the challenge."

Emanuel Cleaver, II is the U.S. Representative for Missouri's Fifth Congressional District, which includes Kansas City, Independence, Lee's Summit, Raytown, Grandview, Sugar Creek, Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Oak Grove, North Kansas City, Gladstone, Claycomo, and all of Ray, Lafayette, and Saline Counties. He is a member of the exclusive House Financial Services Committee; Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance; member of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress; member of the Committee on Homeland Security; and a Senior Whip of the Democratic Caucus.
