Rep. Cleaver Joins Congressional Colleagues to Demand Trump Administration Reveal List of Projects Frozen by President Trump’s Executive Order to Pause Federal Funding from BIL, IRA
(Kansas City, MO) – Today, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) joined 153 House Democrats in demanding the Trump Administration clarify which projects, programs, and activities have been frozen in accordance with an unconstitutional executive order signed by President Trump to immediately pause all disbursements of Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding. In a letter to the Trump Administration, following the vaguely worded executive order and a follow-up memorandum from Trump’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Acting Director and National Economic Council Director, the lawmakers are urging the administration to disclose a full list of the frozen initiatives.
“Despite promises to prioritize lowering costs for American families, the Trump Administration’s reentrance into the White House has been focused on creating chaos, confusion, and considerable anxiety for communities across the country,” said Congressman Cleaver. “Many workers and small businesses in my congressional district have benefitted tremendously from federal dollars provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, which has funded critical local projects to build new roads, repair bridges, replace lead pipes, strengthen climate resilience, and much more. It’s unfortunate that these projects, and the quality jobs they’re creating, are being stalled due to the President’s unlawful executive order and his penchant for putting politics before the needs of the American people.”
The official letter from lawmakers is available here.
