Rep. Cleaver Releases End of Year Report Detailing Accomplishments for MO-05 in 2021
(Kansas City, MO) – Today, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) released a report detailing his work and achievements during 2021 on behalf of the people of the Fifth Congressional District of Missouri.
"It remains the honor of my life serving the people of Missouri's Fifth District in the United States Congress, and I am proud of all that was accomplished for our congressional district during 2021," said Congressman Cleaver. "Last year, we were able to pass a historic rescue package that supported small businesses and Missouri families, helped to create 6 million jobs throughout the country, and enabled more than 200 million Americans to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Additionally, we passed a long overdue bipartisan infrastructure bill that will send approximately $9 billion to Missouri, allowing us to modernize our critical infrastructure, create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs, increase economic growth, and provide greater opportunities for Missouri families. And, most important to me, my office was able to save hardworking Missourians more than $6.5 million in federal benefits thanks to our emphasis on providing first-class constituent services for the people of the Fifth District. While there is still much work to be done in 2022, including sending the Build Back Better Act to President Biden's desk for signature, I'm pleased with all that was achieved during the past year, and I look forward to building on this progress in the year ahead."
The report covers Cleaver's work for Western Missourians on the Financial Services Committee, Homeland Security Committee, and Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress. It also highlights his work to assist constituents in obtaining federal benefits they are owed, legislation he passed and supported, and federal funding he helped secure for the congressional district.
Highlights from the End of Year Report include:
- Saving constituents more than $6.5 million in federal benefits;
- Passing 4 bills with bipartisan support to provide housing assistance to rural Americans, safeguard consumers from nefarious debt collectors, protect airlines passengers and TSA workers from COVID-19, and combat financial corruption;
- Introducing 18 pieces of legislation and cosponsoring 336 additional bills;
- Responding to more than 37,000 constituent inquiries;
- Securing approximately $9 billion to modernize Missouri's infrastructure;
