Rep. Cleaver’s Statement on the Passing of Representative Dennis Moore
(Kansas City, MO) – Today, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) released the following statement after the passing of former Representative Dennis Moore.
"Dennis Moore was a dear friend and the epitome of a class act. From serving in the U.S. Army to serving in the Congress, Representative Moore was a selfless public servant to his core—and we all should be grateful for his lifelong, dedicated service to Kansas and the Kansas City region.
"Having been fortunate enough to have served with Representative Moore on the Financial Services Committee for ten years, I can tell you firsthand he treated every individual he met with the respect and dignity all human beings deserve, regardless of status or political ideology. His sharp wit, strong principles, and passion for the people of Kansas were obvious to anyone who met him, and his willingness to work with anyone who would listen to solve the issues facing his constituents should be an example to everyone serving in Congress today.
"Even after his Alzheimer's diagnosis, Dennis never stopped advocating for his community, making sure every time we crossed paths I knew exactly what he—and the people of Kansas—were thinking when it came to policy and responsible governing. My thoughts and prayers are with Stephene and the entire Moore family as they grieve such a tremendous loss. May he rest in eternal peace and may his memory be a blessing."
