Reps. Cleaver, Graves Introduce Resolution Honoring Fallen Independence Police Officer Blaize Madrid-Evans on Anniversary of His Passing
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Representatives Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) and Sam Graves (R-MO) introduced a resolution honoring the life and legacy of fallen Independence Police Officer Blaize Madrid-Evans on the one-year anniversary of his tragic passing in the line of duty.
“By all accounts, from his family to fellow colleagues in law enforcement, Officer Madrid-Evans was a selfless, dedicated public servant who cared deeply about the safety of his family, friends, neighbors, and the entire Independence community,” said Congressman Cleaver. “While a year has passed since Officer Madrid-Evans was tragically taken from us, it is important that we continue to honor his legacy and never forget the ultimate sacrifice he made on behalf of the community he loved. My prayers are with the loved ones of Officer Madrid-Evans on this extraordinarily difficult day, and I hope that this resolution—to be recorded in the House of Representatives for all of history to see—will provide some comfort as they continue to grieve such a remarkable man.”
“Like too many in law enforcement today, Independence Police Officer Blaize Madrid-Evans was taken from us far too soon,” said Congressman Graves. “Born and raised in the Northland, Officer Evans gave his life to protect our community. His generosity didn’t end with his passing, though. As an organ donor, Officer Evans has gone on to save 7 lives and enhance the lives of 37 others. Although he’s saved and healed many, his passing has still left deep wounds in our community. My prayers are with his family, friends, loved ones, and fellow officers as they continue to grieve. My hope is that this resolution recognizing his service, sacrifice, and generosity will be enshrined in history by the House of Representatives for all to learn from until the end of time.”
