It's a Great Day to be a Royal
Sometimes, those of us in Congress can play well together, especially when we come together for a common good. This past Sunday was Opening Day for the World Champion Kansas City Royals. I, along with my fellow Congressman Kevin Yoder, helped kick off the “Relay the Way” event this weekend in Kansas City - a fundraising effort for the Urban Youth Baseball Academy. Over 2500 people formed a line stretching nearly 10 miles to throw the ceremonial first pitch ball from Union Station, near downtown Kansas City, to Kauffman Stadium.
I’m glad Congressman Yoder and I were able to participate in this event along with hundreds of others. This effort crossed party lines to raise money for a youth baseball academy in Kansas City’s urban core. During difficult times in Congress, it’s days like this that remind us that we are all on the same team. To top off an already sweet day, the Royals defeated the New York Mets 4-3, in a rematch of last year's World Series.
I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend.
Warmly,
