The Senate Amendment to H.R. 2157 was passed by the House of Representatives with a vote of 354-58.

(Kansas City, MO) – Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) today co-hosted a joint roundtable discussion on the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) with Rep. Lacy Clay (D-MO). Al Green (D-TX), Ed Perlmutter (D-CO), and local stakeholders were in attendance. TRIA was passed into law following the September 11 attacks, which caused more than $40 billion in today's dollars in estimated insured losses. The law created the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program which is set to expire on December 31, 2020 unless Congress reauthorizes the program.

(Washington, D.C.) – Last week, Congressman Cleaver introduced H.R. 2666, the Medicare Access to Rural Anesthesiology Act (MARA), which would extend Medicare resources to physician anesthesiologists practicing in rural communities. The bill would amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide payment under Part A of the Medicare Program on a reasonable cost basis for anesthesia services furnished by an anesthesiologist in certain rural hospitals.
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Cleaver's bipartisan bill to curb money laundering and illicit financial activities was unanimously voted out of committee and will await a vote on the House Floor. Cleaver's bill, H.R. 2514, the Coordinating Oversight, Upgrading and Innovating Technology, and Examiner Reform (COUNTER) Act, would implement a number of changes and additions to the regulations borne from the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), which dictates banks' responsibilities to help the government detect and root out illegal financial transactions.

The disaster declaration is a necessary step for these counties to be able to access federal resources for recovery efforts.
(Orrick, MO) – Last week, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) met with Governor Mike Parson, farmers and agricultural leaders from the Missouri Farm Bureau, and leaders from the Missouri Levee & Drainage District Association (MLDDA) to survey farmland and levees devastated by recent flooding in Orrick, Missouri. Following the survey, a roundtable was held to hear from local farmers and levee district leaders to discuss improvements that can be made to protect Missouri farmers and ranchers from future floods.
