(Washington, D.C.) – This week, United States Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) voted to support H.R. 397, the Rehabilitation for Multiemployer Pensions Act, otherwise known as the Butch Lewis Act. The bill addresses the multiemployer pension crisis facing over one million Americans across the nation, serving as an important backstop to ensure that retirees do not lose the pensions they earned through decades of hard work. Congressman Cleaver was an original cosponsor of the bill, which passed the House with a vote of 264-169 and will now go to the Senate.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) voted in favor of H.R. 582, the Raise The Wage Act, a landmark bill to gradually increase the federal minimum wage to $15 over six years. According to analysis from the Economic Policy Institute, the bill would increase pay for up to 33 million Americans, including nearly 124,900 workers in the Fifth District of Missouri who would receive, on average, an additional $2,000 per year. The bill was passed by a vote of 231-199 and will now go to the Senate.

The Peace dollar is one of the most recognized and coveted dollar coins ever produced by the mint. They were minted in the years 1921-1928 and again from 1934-1935.

The legislation directs the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to take a more humanitarian, strategic approach to addressing conditions for migrant families and unaccompanied children seeking asylum while also combatting human smugglers and trafficking operations targeting Central American children and families.
