(Kansas City, MO) – The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced it would offer cash-strapped mortgage servicers much-needed financial relief by limiting the obligations servicers must pay to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on missed payments from single-family loans. Additionally, the FHFA announced they would support homeowners and mortgage lenders by also approving the purchase of single-family mortgages in forbearance that meet specific eligibility criteria.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, United States Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) introduced H.R. 6457, the Disaster and Emergency Pricing Abuse Prevention Act, to combat predatory price gouging tactics, which have surged during the coronavirus pandemic. Cleaver's bill would prohibit excessive and unjustified price increases in the sale of essential goods and services in anticipation of, during, or immediately following a pandemic, natural disaster, or state of emergency. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) has sponsored and introduced the same bill in the U.S. Senate.

Lacy Clay (D-MO) have called for the Small Business Administration (SBA) to establish a national hotline for financial institutions and borrowers seeking to access the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a lending program created with passage of the CARES Act last month. Cleaver and Clay also called for an immediate all-member congressional briefing from the SBA and Treasury Department to answer questions congressional offices have received regarding the newfound program.
