EC from DC
Last month, the Trump Administration began to enforce their "zero tolerance" policy for individuals illegally entering the country. Many of these families arrived at the border seeking asylum. Since that mandate, undocumented children have been routinely separated from their families.
It was a busy week in the district but it was also productive. I had the chance to visit with some of my most promising constituents. I spent time each day of the week, visiting nearly a dozen high school students in the Fifth District. I listened to students talk about their concerns about school safety and procedures in their schools. These were good discussions.
The more I learn about technology, the more I see that there is so much work to be done. I have been fighting discrimination in the workplace for many years and now that ugly beast has found its way into our evolving technology industry. That is why it is so important to monitor the practices of tech companies and social media.
It was a small request to ask but it could have enormous results. This week, amidst the talk of indictments and tax plans, I called for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate an area that affects nearly 44 million Americans. It is the reason why so many people are inundated with evening phone calls from collectors.

As many of you know, this has been a troubling week. Congressman Steve Scalise, Majority Whip of the House of Representatives remains in the hospital after a cowardly act of violence. Four others, including two Capitol Police officers, a congressional staffer, and a former congressional staffer suffered injuries as well.
It's been a busy week as I returned to the Fifth District of Missouri. My first stop was a humbling commemoration of those who have fought and died serving our country. I spoke at the Memorial Day ceremony at the National World War I Museum and Memorial. There are currently 21.4 million men and women who are veterans in our nation. Over 480,000 are right here in Missouri.
