WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, H.R. 3700, The Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act, successfully passed through the Senate. This bill, sponsored by Missouri Congressmen Emanuel Cleaver, II and Blaine Luetkemeyer, passed unanimously in the House on February 2, 2016. The bill was later introduced in the Senate by Senator Menendez, Senator Scott, Senator Coons, and Missouri Senator Roy Blunt. It successfully passed on July 14, 2016, and is now on its way to President Barack Obama's desk for signature.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (MO-5) and Congressional Black Caucus Chair, G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) submitted a letter to the CEO of Airbnb, Inc., Brian Chesky. The letter, which can be read here, addresses recent reports of discrimination against African Americans and other minorities who attempt to book rooms online with Airbnb.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) recently submitted a letter to the Department of Labor asking for technology companies that hold sizable government contracts to develop written affirmative-action programs. The letter, which can be found here, is cosigned by several members of the Congressional Black Caucus Diversity Task Force.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II, along with 177 other Members of the House Pro-Choice Caucus, sent a second letter respectfully asking House Speaker Paul Ryan to disband the Select Investigative Panel on Planned Parenthood. An initial letter was sent in February, but after continued exploitations of power, which have risked the safety of Americans, House Democrats have again called on Speaker Ryan to end this destructive behavior immediately.
