(Washington, D.C.) – Today, United States Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) voted in favor of H.R. 5, the Equality Act, to ensure all LGBTQ Americans are afforded the full protections guaranteed under federal civil rights law. The Equality Act would extend anti-discrimination protections past the workplace and into the hiring process, education, housing, access to credit, jury service, federal funding, public accommodations, and more.

(Washington, D.C.) – Last Friday, the House Committee on Oversight and Reform passed out of committee legislation that would provide states, localities, Tribes, and territories with direct funding to fight the coronavirus pandemic amid its devastating impact on state and municipal budgets. The legislation, which will now be included in the House of Representatives' new COVID-19 relief package, would send over $350 million to municipalities in the Fifth Congressional District of Missouri.

Res. 11, the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Resolution, which was passed by the House of Representatives with a vote of 218-212. The budget resolution gives Congress an additional tool to pass a substantial COVID-19 relief package to provide the resources needed to defeat coronavirus and bolster the struggling economy.
