(Washington, D.C.) – Today, United States Representatives Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) and Steve Stivers (R-OH), along with United States Senators Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Tim Kaine (D-VA), announced the Negro Leagues Baseball Centennial Commemorative Coin Act passed the Senate and is on its way to be signed by the President. The bipartisan legislation directs the U.S. Treasury to mint a coin to commemorate the centennial of Negro Leagues Baseball.

The investment is part of $550 million Congress allocated to the second round of the ReConnect Program through the USDA, which is aimed at expanding broadband access and connectivity in rural areas.

(Kansas City, MO) – Today, United States Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) announced the formation of the Tri-Chambers of Kansas City, a consolidation of the Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce, Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City to assist minority-, women-, and LGBT-owned small businesses in the Greater Kansas City Area. Last week, the chambers signed a joint contract to receive $250,000 in CARES Act funding to help Kansas City small businesses devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kennedy, III (D-MA) released a report following their inquiry into the usage of women- and minority-owned asset management firms by college and university endowments. In July, Cleaver and Kennedy called for the twenty-five universities with the largest endowments to provide data on the asset managers administering their endowment assets as well as firm selection processes and practices.

(Kansas City, MO) – Last Saturday, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) announced that the United States House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill directing the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins commemorating Negro League baseball's 100th anniversary. Introduced by Cleaver in July of last year, the Negro Leagues Baseball Centennial Commemorative Coin Act is projected to raise up to $6 million for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum located in Kansas City's historic 18th & Vine district.
