(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) voted in favor of H.R. 2740, the Fiscal 2020 Labor-HHS-Education, Defense, State-Foreign Ops, and Energy and Water Development Appropriations Minibus. As stated in the bill's title, it will fund the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), Education, Defense, State, and Energy for Fiscal Year 2020, and passed by a vote of 226-203.

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) today voted in support of H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act, which would provide legal protections to Dreamers who meet certain conditions, including either completing higher education, serving in the military or holding a job, as well as Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) holders. The bill would provide a path to citizenship for each of these groups, protecting them from deportation and allowing them to continue their contributions to American society and the Kansas City community.

The Senate Amendment to H.R. 2157 was passed by the House of Representatives with a vote of 354-58.

(Kansas City, MO) – Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) today co-hosted a joint roundtable discussion on the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) with Rep. Lacy Clay (D-MO). Al Green (D-TX), Ed Perlmutter (D-CO), and local stakeholders were in attendance. TRIA was passed into law following the September 11 attacks, which caused more than $40 billion in today's dollars in estimated insured losses. The law created the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program which is set to expire on December 31, 2020 unless Congress reauthorizes the program.
