This week, I received call after call on a certain bill coming before the House for a vote. Some callers asked me to vote for the bill. Some callers asked with me to vote against it. To those doctors, nurses, and senior citizens who took the time to call me and my staff, I appreciate hearing your thoughts, and I do value your messages. To the hospital officials and health center advisors who came in to meet with me, thank you for your time and your insights. At times like these, I know it is important to listen to all sides and sentiments on an issue before making a decision.

Dear Lord,

So far today, things are moving magnificently. I have not: cursed at the guy on the other side of the aisle, spread a rumor about a colleague, yelled at a staffer, exercised raw arrogance, nor said things during an interview that I will be required to walk back. However Lord, I am now getting out of bed, and I will need all the strength, love, and guidance you can provide.

P.S. Lord - Grant me extravagant patience with people who are not as good as I am, so that I won’t lose my temper. For if you do not help me, I will surely get an ethics complaint.

Dear Friends,

We play this trick on ourselves — falling back and springing forward — but our time here is of course limited. Each morning, as the day begins, all of us receive a deposit of 86,400 seconds to spend. Think about it: 604,800 seconds a week or 2,592,000 a month.

How would you handle the daily deposit? My friends, in the bank of time there is a deposit made in our account of 86,400 seconds each morning. We in Congress have this precious time to spend improving the lives of 320 million Americans, whom we pledge to protect and serve.
