(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Representatives Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) introduced the Combating Workplace Discrimination in Correctional Facilities Act to strengthen protections for incarcerated workers from discrimination and civil rights violations. The bill would help prevent the exploitation of incarcerated people by explicitly prohibiting discrimination and retaliation against incarcerated workers or individuals who choose not to work while incarcerated.

(Washington, D.C.) – Amid a growing housing crisis, U.S. Representatives Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO), Derek Kilmer (D-WA), Mike Flood (R-NE),  and Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) have introduced the Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY) Act, legislation to help overcome barriers to increasing home construction, including outdated zoning, slow permitting, and discriminatory land use policies. U.S. Senators Todd Young (IN) and Brian Schatz (HI) introduced identical legislation in the U.S. Senate.

Companion legislation was introduced by U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) earlier this year.
