President Obama has signed the World War I Centennial Commission Act, introduced by Congressman Cleaver. This establishes a World War I Centennial Commission which will spearhead the planning and execution of the war commemorations throughout the country and in Kansas City in 2014.
The 113th Congress is now officially underway. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II, (D-Missouri) was sworn in Wednesday afternoon in the Nation’s Capitol for his fifth term as a United States Congressman. This will be the Congressman’s first term representing the enlarged and newly configured Fifth District following re-districting by the Missouri Legislature.
Today, the World War I Centennial Commission Act passed the House of Representatives with overwhelming support, by a vote of 401-5. Congressman Cleaver spoke on the House Floor about this issue earlier this month. Video is available here.
